Shakespeare’s Birthday Weekend: What’s on
Join us for an extraordinary weekend of events and performances as we celebrate Shakespeare’s 453rd birthday from Friday 21 – Sunday 23 April.
Shakespeare’s birthday weekend sees the closing of our winter season, Wonder Noir, in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, and the opening of our summer season, the Summer of Love, in the Globe Theatre.

Mark Rylance’s Sonnet Walks return for their 25th anniversary, as well as a unique performance of Shakespeare’s poetry in Westminster Abbey.

Families can enjoy a wonderful storytelling session in the Playhouse on Sunday 23 April, in which Jamie Askill will endeavour to find out who was the real Mr William Shakespeare.
If you’re looking to learn more about Shakespeare and the Globe, make sure you visit our Exhibition & Tour. We’ll be hosting
Elizabethan costume dressing, printing press and sword fighting demonstrations on Sunday 23 April too.
