The Word of the Week is ‘lief’, an adverb meaning ‘readily; willingly’.

It appears in no less that 13 Shakespeare works. To pick out just one quote: Rosalind in As You Like It (IV, 1) tells Orlando ‘I had as lief be woo’d of a snail.’

Word of the Week: ‘Lief’ (adv.) ‘readily; willingly’
