The Two Gentlemen of Verona: Designing the costumes
Designer Katie Sykes shares her sketches and inspiration for The Two Gentlemen of Verona costumes:
The inspiration for the costumes came from all the brilliant photos and fashion shoots of the early to mid- sixties. However not all the characters were part of the swinging sixties world. The characters based in “Verona” needed a more old-fashioned, drab look to them, so it was really fun finding lots of beige,brown and grey knitwear. Our Outlaws were based on lots of different reference ranging from Woodstock festival goers to Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider so we layered our actors up with plenty of fringed leather, sheepskin and bandanas - a bit hot when it is really sunny!
