BBC Proms at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse
The BBC Proms 2016 programme has just been announced – and excitingly, the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse will be hosting a special celebration of Restoration theatre music. This performance offers a chance to get up close with leading performers and Jonathan Cohen’s crack Baroque ensemble, Arcangelo, which makes its Proms debut in works by Purcell, Blow, Locke and Draghi – including music for Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
Performers will include:
Katherine Watson soprano
Samuel Boden tenor
Callum Thorpe bass
Arcangelo
Jonathan Cohen harpsichord/organ/director
Performances in the Playhouse will take place at 3.00pm and 8.00pm on 13 August, with the 3.00pm concert being broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Find out more about the event and how to buy tickets.
